Vacations and Breaks
Many students are quite confused about how the Chinese holiday system works. Here is the rule: when any national holiday runs into the weekend, you have to make up a day or two on the weekend before and afterward.
During a school year, students will have days off during the following vacations and breaks:
New Year Day Vacation: January 1st to 3rd
May Day Holiday: May 1st to 3rd
National Day Holiday: October 1st to 7th
Summer vacation: Usually from early July to end of August
Winter Vacation: usually from late January to mid- February
The time of winter vacation in Chinese schools changes since the Chinese Spring Festival falls on different dates in different years.
For more details, please refer to the school calendar.
